COUNSELING

Counseling for Children, Adolescents, Parents and Families

The Green House Group provides psychological and therapeutic services across a broad range of social-emotional needs, such as Anxiety, Depression, Separation/Divorce, Grief and Loss, Social Adjustment, Psychological Trauma, Chronic Illness, Family challenges, ADHD, Behavioral Difficulties, and more.

Individual and Family Play Therapy

Children learn to play long before they can walk or talk.  Play is their natural language.  Since most young children cannot verbally express their inner thoughts and feelings, they communicate using actions and play.

Play Therapy is the process of learning about children's emotions by observing and participating in their play.  It is not just a fun activity, but a very specific, widely researched means of treatment for children with emotional and behavioral challenges.

Play therapy can positively affect many different challenges experienced by children, including those listed above.
PARENT EDUCATION

The PLAY Project:  "Play and Language for Youngsters with Autism"

PLAY is designed for children 18 months through 8 years who have been diagnosed with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  PLAY is a home-centered parent education program which has evolved from the Developmental, Individual-Differences, Relationship-Based (DIR)/Floortime model.  The PLAY Project aims to support and educate parents and other caregivers in using play-based interventions to improve their child's social-emotional skills, play skills, and language development.

Supporting your Child with Asperger Syndrome (AS) or High Functioning Autism (HFA)

This program is designed to help parents and caregivers of children with AS or HFA increase their knowledge while sharing and learning from other parnets.  Topics range from preventing and managing meltdowns, using social stories, learning how sensory processing affects your child, and more.

Chid-Parent Relationship (CPR) Training

CPR for Parenting is also known as Filial Play Therapy.  C-P-R Training is a research-based, 10 -week parenting course that teaches parents how to apply some of the skills and techniques that play therapists use to help children experiencing social, emotional, and/or behavioral problems.
